Recycling + Re-Use New Orleans Guide

Posted by Tippy Tippens on

It can be frustrating to be an environmentalist and committed to recycling in Louisiana. I created this guide to recycling + re-use in New Orleans to help make it a little easier & save you some legwork. Please let me know if you have additional info or tips & I'll add it to the list!

When I was in high school we did a 'walk in my shoes' job day, I selected to spend the day in the Recycling Center / Landfill manager's shoes for the day. It made a significant impact on me to see those mountains of trash first hand. At that time I was living in a small town, I continually imagine how large landfills need to be for our sprawling and growing metropolises. Between that & having grown up in Europe for my formative years, I am physically unable to throw things away that are recyclable or re-usable. So much so that a funny ex-boyfriend gave me the nickname 'repsycho' - haha. But seriously, it does make a difference, check out the details below.

P.S. - A * before a listed location indicates a place for Re-use, otherwise locations are for recycling.
